Limited almost exclusively to the Southwest, Texas and Florida, Spanish Revival home plans draw on the heritage and architectural detail of America's Spanish-colonial history. Heavily ornamented, these homes feature the red-tile roofs and stuccoed walls one would expect in Mediterranean settings. That's part of their romantic appeal. Spanish Revival houses feature thick walls and cool interiors that make them best-suited to southern climates. And the heavy ornamentation, common to the Spanish Revival house plan, with wrought-iron window and door hardware, heavily carved and shaped columns, and patterned tile or ceramic floor treatments, also work to bring the touches of Old Spain.
