Built with a low-pitched or flat roof of red tiles, the Spanish or Mission style home is characterized by its handsome arches above main windows, porch entries, and doors. Walking around the Mission style home and through the courtyard, one encounters textured stucco walls, twisted columns, and rounded design of its windows and doors. Typical of this home plan, decorative touches include patterned tilework around windows and on the walls, stone carvings, or elaborate grillwork. Mostly located in the Southwest and Florida, this Spanish or Mission-inspired home is a romantic interpretation of the simple Spanish structures of colonial America.
